High School Transition Services

According to federal law, transition planning must begin by the age of 16 for students receiving Special Education services. LifeWork@FRA offers a high school transition program for students with IEP goals of vocational experiences in a community setting.  These students are provided job coaching support on a 1-to-1 basis. Each student’s interests and abilities are used to develop an unpaid internship with a business where they learn how to become contributing members of their communities.  In addition, prevocational classes are available to help students develop skills related to professional conduct, attire, following directions, attending to tasks, improving and learning workplace safety, and solving problems at a work site.
