TECHConnection is a signature program at FRA, offering a resource of services to all members of the community. Today, computers and tablets have many built-in features making it easier, more convenient, and more comfortable for those with disabilities to use as an aid in developing life skills and independence as well as improving the experience of reading, working, learning, shopping, and socializing.
TECHConnection offers some technology education classes for everyone in the community, via both group and individual sessions. These tend to be more personalized as many services exist in the community. Specially modified classes are also available for people with developmental disAbilities, which can be accessed through their DDD budget.
TECHConnection maintains a Technology Demonstration Center with an assistive technology computer device Lending Library that is open to the public. A visit to the demo center allows our community to explore:
- Keyboard and Mouse Alternatives
- Writing and Literacy
- Assistive Technology for Special Situations
- Assistive devices and alternative communication basics
- Adapted toys for children with special needs.
