Becoming A Self Sufficient Young Adult: How Parents Can Help Promote Independence In Their Young Teenager with Special Needs

There is no time like the present to help prepare your child for the future! Join us for this informative workshop for parents of preteens and young teenagers as we take a look at the skills needed to develop independence as adults. Because self-sufficiency is learned via instruction and practice, adult independence needs to be planned for and taught. Much of this practice takes place outside the school. Learn how to look at your child's present abilities and determine where you want them to be as adults. Then, develop a plan to get you there!

Effectively Managing Your Child's Behavior

Learn to deal more effectively with your children. The focus is on parenting children with developmental delays/disabilities, with suggestions to address the needs of all children in the family. This workshop emphasizes understanding the causes of problem behavior, the reinforcements for behavior, communication styles and valuable strategies for successful parenting. If both parents in the family are able to attend, the chances for
successful implementation of these ideas multiply!
