Early
Intervention
The services I received from
the staff were fantastic. I can't say enough about my therapists...
and my family support person.... They were my sanity through the
last 3 years, and I consider them all "family".

FRA's Early Intervention services are for
infants and toddlers, from birth to age three, with developmental delays or
disabilities.
Find out what help is available,
how you can enroll at FRA, about
FRA's staff, about the
NJ Early Intervention System (NJEIS) and about
additional services offered by FRA.
The first three years of life are extremely
important in maximizing a child's potential. FRA is available to help you help
your child who may be experiencing difficulty in moving, playing, learning, or
communicating. We can assist you with concerns you may have about your child
developmentally, behaviorally, or socially.
It is our goal to provide parents with
information, techniques, resources and services that can best help your child to
grow and develop. FRA offers excellent comprehensive services for children and
families in Monmouth County. The extensive experience of our highly
qualified professionals can make a difference for your child and for your
family, today … and in the future.
Are you concerned about your child’s development?
If you suspect that an infant or toddler is
experiencing developmental delays, contact your county Special Child Health
Services Case Management Unit, which serves as the single point of entry for all
state-funded early intervention services (NJ Early Intervention System or NJEIS) in that county. For Monmouth County, call 732-224-6950.
Or contact FRA
732-747-5310 if you do not wish to participate in the NJEIS, or to
discuss any concerns you have and speak to a professional who can help answer
your questions.
What help is available for a Child?
Since 1979, FRA has provided children and families with unique home-based and
center-based services to meet their changing needs. Our mission is to strengthen
families as we help them cope and guide them with new skills to
help
their child learn and grow. We work with the total family and anyone else
important to your child by offering techniques, strategies and helpful tips that
can be easily incorporated into your daily life. We will make suggestions
of things you can do throughout the week. We will try to answer your questions.
We will help you find answers that you need from other professionals. We will
honestly discuss your child's progress and need for any other services.
Highly qualified, skilled and experienced
professionals from the early intervention program staff will visit your
family/child. Sessions may be at home, in the community, day care center or any
appropriate location. These individual, play-based sessions focus on encouraging
skill development in your child’s area of need. Staff will explain the
importance of the activities so that you develop knowledge about how best to
help your child. All children learn through play. We want to make that possible
for your child with very special needs too.
How do I enroll
in Early Intervention
Services at FRA?
FRA is a Fee-for-Service Vendor with the NJ Early Intervention System (NJEIS),
as approved by the NJ Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS). Families
have the option of participating in this service if their child is found
eligible. Children who may be eligible to participate in this system are
provided with a free eligibility evaluation by a special team of professionals,
the development of an individual family service plan (IFSP), and service
coordination.
All children who meet the developmental
eligibility criteria for services as determined by the State of NJ Early
Intervention Program System, and those families who choose to participate can
then obtain services from a state approved vendor, with a minimal monthly cost
share. If you are referred to FRA for these services, we will be happy to assist
you.
If you choose to participate in the NJEIS,
your IFSP process will help you identify your child's and family's strengths and
needs. The IFSP document will also identify the supports and services that will
help your family meet the needs of your child. The IFSP will detail specifically
who will provide services, when they will begin, how frequently they will occur
and for how long the service will last.
Who will help my child and my family?
The Early Intervention staff at FRA includes child development specialists who
also have individual expertise in a specialized field such as special education,
early childhood education, behavioral specialist, nursing, social work, physical
therapy, occupational therapy and speech and language therapy. Our professionals
all have extensive experience working with infant development and family
services. Unique to FRA is a wealth of family support services designed to help
families increase their knowledge, competencies and strengthen the family unit.

and children outside of that which is funded under the NJEIS. FRA can provide
additional services such as developmental groups, family support services,
individual therapy, assistive technology and recreation programs, which families
can pay for privately. Some limited scholarships are available for our services.
